The Litter

Here's Nova with a couple of his bothers/sisters. The white kitten next to him was euthanized because she was "developmentally slow". The black and white one to his left is ADORABLE.

The Momma: This cat is so sweet - and physically very beautiful. She was the best momma ever. She was really tolerant of these little beasts climbing all over her. She nursed them for quite a while. I'm thankful that she took in our little guy.

Now those are some little monsters. Poor momma.

Here's Nova with the three white girls and the black and white boy. The one on the left grew really quickly. L, The Boyfriend and I named her "Crappy Eyes" because she got a really disgusting eye infection. The kitten on the right is the one that was put down. The middle kitten is a dwarf! L was examining her and noticed her legs are abnormally short. Strange. I think she wants to keep it now that she knows it's a genetic freak (so does The Boyfriend...I voted NO to having five cats).

New Picture of NovaHere's our guy. He looks pretty much the same, but he's all about playing - all the time. When he's not playing, he's sleeping on one of our shoulders.

Ok, here I go...

In our defense on the subject of four cats...seriously, listen up, this makes a ton of sense. So when The Boyfriend moved in, be brought Luna and Jack. We became concerned that Luna would die (she's 16 or 17...and we now realize that she will never die...she is fueled by hate and bile) and Jack would be left to adapt to, not only her death, but the introduction of a new animal.

Enter Tiger. I fell in love with him on the Humane Society web site. He looks like Jack's little brother he never had. Both red tabbies, and Tiger is the sweetest cat ever. He LOVES other animals and gets along with both Jack and Luna famously.

Which brings me to a chilly fall evening when I heard crying across the street. Yes, young Nova was starving to death under a concrete porch.

Now here's the rationalization: What if Luna doesn't defy the odds and passes away at some point? Jack is almost 7, Tiger only 2. Will Tiger be left alone? It made perfect sense to keep Nova so that we keep the number right at three...even though 2 seems more manageable. And, as you said, he is SO CUTE!

And that, my friend, is how people become pet hoarders.

Pet hoarding is weird. I just want one, cute dog. But until I am as excited about taking care of said dog, we still don't have one.

Anyway, I have a friend with a dwarf cat. It's funny to watch it run, because it looks like it's in a constant crouch - but it's perfectly healthy in every other way (aside from the depression, but that's separate). Not that you need another cat!

Thanks for posting those pictures. Looks like Nova fit right in with that litter. It is hard to say no to such cute and loving animals!
